GUI Automated Tests(GAT) is a powerful tool which can be used on performing automated tests on any windows application with Graphical User Interface. The tool is able to record user actions (mouse and keyboard) and to play these recorded actions. After each action is played, a set of validation tests are executed. Each validation test checks the state of a property from one of the windows located in Desktop at that time. If the test fails, the tool will execute a predefined fail action (break the tests, log the failure or execute a script). The following terms are important for the test process: * test property state: known also as test is the state-validation for a given window property. An example of test property state is the validation of the notepad text after some typing was performed. * user action known also as action is the mouse or keyboard event generated by the user. An example of user action is mouse click over a button or key-down / key-up inside a text box. * script is an external executable file which can be called by GUI Automated Tests framework. The script can receive some predefined parameters or the integer representation of a windows handle. The scripts can be used to start the tested application, to clean-up the tests or to preform extra-validation in the case of a failed test. * scenario is a group of actions with a given scope. Examples of scenario are "open notepad", "close notepad", "sum of two numbers in calc". * test case is a group of actions, scenarios, scripts that has as scope the test of an application functionality. The test case opens the tested application, runs some recorded user actions, validates the state of tested application windows and controls, close the tested application, generates (and send) the reports. The package contains: a) "Gui Automated Tests" with 4 modules: * a recorder - to capture user actions (usage of mouse and keyboard) * a player - to reproduce captured user actions * a validator - to validate the played actions * a reports generator - to view the test results b) "GUITestsRunner" can be used for integration in automated build systems (ex. Cruise Control)
